VIGES PRACTICAL TRAINING COURSE 2 ACHIEVES OUTSTANDING SUCCESS: UPDATES ON NEW TRENDS IN ENDOSCOPIC CLOSED WOUND SUTURING (EMR/ESD)

On May 9-10, 2025, the Vietnam Society of Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (VIGES), in collaboration with the Department of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City), successfully organized Course 2 – Practical Training with the theme “New Trends in Endoscopic Closed-Cut EMR/ESD Endoscopy”.

  • Participants: 10 doctors and 4 nurses.

  • Training content:

    • Theory: Professor Osamu Goto (Japan) and Dr. Le Quang Nhan (VIGES) shared their knowledge on the techniques of using SutuArt and other instruments in closing EMR/ESD incisions.
    • Practice: Practice using SutuArt to sew up cuts on a model for two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

  • Target:

    • Updating methods for suturing closed EMR/ESD incisions.
    • Preventing complications after EMR/ESD, improving the skills of doctors and nurses.

Statement by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Long (Chairman of VIGES): The success of this practical training course demonstrates the importance of standardizing techniques and promoting inter-hospital cooperation to optimize the quality of therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. At the same time, this practical training course marks a step forward in the training of interventional endoscopy in Vietnam, aiming towards international standards. Information on future courses: Following this success, similar practical training courses will be organized monthly by VIGES and the Department of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy – University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Course 3: Will take place on July 11th and 12th, 2025. Currently, this course has reached its full registration limit.
